Ear Nose and Throat Services

Enlarged  Tonsils and Adenoids can cause health problems when they become infected or obstruct normal breathing or nasal/sinus drainage.

At  our centre, we excel in the treatment of this condition by offering coblation tonsillectomy. Coblation is an advanced technology that combines gentle radiofrequency energy with natural saline — to quickly, and safely removes tonsils. Because traditional procedures, other than cold steel, use high levels of heat to remove the tonsils, damage to surrounding healthy tissue is common which results in severe pain. The innovative approach of Coblation results in minimal pain and rapid recovery for patients.

Mastoidectomy and tympanoplasty are surgical procedures of the middle ear performed in order to close a hole in the ear drum, remove the infection in the middle ear and mastoid bone and to improve hearing.

Dr Vivek Gogia is an international expert in the surgical management of this condition called chronic suppurative otitis media.
At our Centre, we excel in the treatment! Procedures at our hospital also have a very small convalescing time allowing the patient to return home quickly after a successful operation.

An endoscopic sinus surgery is usually undertaken to bring relief from chronic rhinosinusitis (inflammation in nose and sinuses that’s unrelieved for at least 3 months) that’s not responding satisfactorily to medications. The cause of this inflammation can be anything from infection, allergies and irritants to polyps (non-cancerous swelling of the nasal/sinus lining). Endoscopic sinusitis surgery can be undertaken under local anaesthesia or general anaesthesia.

Functional endoscopic sinus surgery is a minimally invasive technique used to restore sinus ventilation and normal function. Rapid growth in this specialty along with the introduction of new technologies such as navigation, microdebrider and better medical management allows for better results in the treatment of sinus ailments at our Institute.

A bent septum is a structural Tissue that cannot be rectified by medications or alternate therapies. Only a surgery can bring a bent septum to its correct place in the middle of the nose. A septoplasty can be done under local or general anaesthesia and it requires about 30-45 minutes.

If either the bone or the tissue of the turbinates enlarges or swells up, it can obstruct nasal airflow. Turbinates’ size reduction can be achieved either by shrinking them or by taking a chunk out of them.

Our team is extensively trained  for handling such cases  with wonderful results

These are specialized surgeries that are done to Deal with TUMORS affecting the head and neck region. Dr Vivek is very well accomplished in treating  a wide variety of problems in the head and neck region including tumors affecting the thyroid gland, parotid and submandibular salivary glands. De Cure International, in addition, offers minimally invasive laser treatment for head and neck cancer surgeries where the patient has a very short hospital stay and rapid recovery

Rhinoplasty, commonly known as a ‘NOSE JOB’ is basically a plastic surgery where the form or shape of the nose is reconstructed. This is done to make it aesthetically better or to correct congenital or structural defects of the nose.

Facial plastic surgery is also another subspecialty that focuses on the general aspects of reconstructing a person’s face following trauma or congenital defects

A cochlear implant is a small, complex electronic device that improves the sense of hearing in people who are profoundly deaf or have severe hearing difficulties. The implant consists of an external part that is located behind the ear and a second part that is surgically placed under the skin.

An implant does not restore normal hearing. However, it can provide a deaf person with a useful understanding of the sounds of the environment and improve their communication with the people around them.

Ours is a multi-disciplinary team comprised of surgeons, audiologists, speech pathologist.

We are dedicated to helping deaf children hear, particularly children with severe to profound sensorineural hearing loss.

Eustachian Tube Balloon Dilation is an endoscopic nasal procedure to treat Eustachian Tube Dysfunction (ETD) which causes ear pain, fullness of ear, muffled hearing, and dizziness. This procedure is based on the idea that temporary dilatation of the eustachian tube can improve symptoms (loss of hearing, pain and auditory fullness, otorrhea, tinnitus, and dizziness) of patients with tubal dysfunction.

• Pure Tone Audiometry – This is a subjective test in which the result is dependent on the patient’s response. It is considered to be the most informative test in the audiological test battery and is a very reliable test if done by a reliable person. It gives an idea of the hearing threshold in the different frequencies . If there is deafness it tells us whether the deafness is due to defect in the middle ear or in the inner ear or in the nerve of hearing. Localizing tests like TDT, SISI, ABLB and glycerol tests which help in diagnosing the nature and site of lesion are also done here.

• High Frequency Audiometry – This special testing is done for patients of tinnitus, sudden hearing loss, hearing loss due to exposure to loud noise, industrial workers etc. We test frequencies from 250 – 16,000 Hz.

• Impedance Audiometry – Also called tympanometry, this test tells us about the functioning of the middle ear and also that of the cochlea (i.e. inner ear). This is an objective test (i.e. the results are not dependent upon the subject’s response) and it helps the clinician to identify the nature of pathology in middle ear disorders, like whether it is a case of Otosclerosis, Otitis Media with Effusion, adhesive otitis media etc.

If your voice has changed or you have become hoarse, it is important that you see your ENT Doctor ,if this change persists after a few days, particularly if you have not been shouting/overusing your voice or if you have had a cold.
The medical term dysphonia means a change in the voice, including hoarseness, and the similar term aphonia means complete loss of voice (usually reduction to a tiny whisper.)

Speech therapy

The therapy is aimed to restore the best possible voice for the patient. This begins with educating all the patients in how to care for their voice (vocal hygiene) and helping the patient to understand the lifestyle factors and any stresses which have led to the hoarseness. Reduction or removal of these factors is often essential in restoring a good voice and the therapist is able to continuously monitor and measure the patient’s progress.
Voice therapy may involve additional advice about posture and body position and breathing exercises.

Surgery is only required in the minority of patients with hoarseness or change in their voice.

Fitting and Programming of high tech digital hearing aids is another facility that we have at Our Centre.
Very sophisticated modern digital hearing aids are dispensed.

Snoring is the most common problem faced by every one at one or the other time in their lives. The soft palate is the soft tissue that forms the roof of oral cavity. Its vibration during sleep is known as snoring. Treatment for snoring can involve reshaping of palate & uvula, apart from Bipap devices .

De Cure helps you give a snore free life.Coblation surgery can be considered as a surgery with a plasma knife, which is almost bloodless & less painful. Post surgically many patients experience a reduction in severity of snoring approximately within six weeks.
